We loaded up and headed out to Rossland BC to shred at Red Mountain Resort this past week searching for more powder. And again we weren’t disappointed. Red Mountain Resort is located in the middle of British Columbia down by the American border. It’s a bit of a trek to get to, but their snow and terrain quickly make you forget the extra few hrs of drive time . The best way to get there is to either fly into Kelowna or Spokane and rent a car. Flying into Castlegar in the winter is really sketchy and most likely the flight will get cancelled. There are also shuttles from both airports, info is on Red’s website www.redresort.com.
Riding at Red feels like you’re at a backcountry snowboard park with cliffs and hits everywhere. Just some of the most unbelievable inbound terrain a resort can offer. Steep tree runs and wide open bowls. It felt as if we had the whole mountain to ourselves. With no lift lines and rarely saw anyone on the runs the whole week we were there. A couple of our favorite runs we recommend to check out are Powder Fields, Dougs Run, High Spirits and the backside of Grey Mountain. They also offer catskiing for $10 per run. Do yourself a favor and the next time it’s snowing make the trek out to Red, you won’t be disappointed. Check them out at www.redresort.com .
